Are you interested in portraits of your family or creating a professional business portrait? Hi, my name is Cynthia Mallory and I have been a photographer since the late 90's. I shoot both portraits and landscapes in both color and black and white in downtown Grand Rapids. I have a constant fascination of lighting whether it be in a movie or a reflection in water. Being able to capture this for print is both beautiful and satisfying. Though I enjoy creating dramatic black and white portraits, like the clients on my past magazine covers to the right, I love to add colorful effects to abstract work in order to add that special splash of color to a room.

Just for kicks, below are just a few of my most favorite things:
Nature- Anything green captures my attention. From the praying mantis to new growth just making it’s way in the spring.
Water- I love driving down by the lake just to watch the rhythm of the water. I find photographing those patterns exciting.
Mountains- How majestic and incredible are mountains.
Fossils- I cant explain it but to be on an excursion photographing nature and to come across rocks with fossils just seems unreal. We take it for granted but it is another design that just fascinates me.
Antique books- I love old books with beautiful worn leather covers and pages with marbled edges.
Old leather cases- I love seeing an old brown leather briefcase with the slightly discolored gold lock. Or, a antique handbag in sleek black from the 60?s.
Vintage Cameras- The Mamiya m645, Yashica Mats and the Hasselblad 500cm are absolutely gorgeous.
My Iphone and Ipad- The creativity that went into developing these is amazing. They thought of every detail and made an elegant interface I appreciate. They are pieces of art in very functional packages.
Time pieces- Maybe it’s the gears but I love timepieces, especially chronographs. My favorites: Tag Heuer, Sturhling,
Automobiles- The lines in a car can be so elegant or so sporty. My favorites: Dodge Challenger R/T, Ford Mustang, Aston Martin, the old jaguars and Bentley.
Music- I love songs that give praise to the almighty GOD.
Movies- I love Science Fiction Movies such as the X-Men or The Avengers and movies that are poetic or clever in their story line.
There are so many wonderfully designed creations from time pieces to movies to enjoy. Design is all around us whether it is natural design or human made. I find great joy in capturing it with my camera and sharing it for the rest of the world to enjoy.
